Chitwan National Park

Sauraha

38 °C

Sauraha is like a Nepali version of Queenstown or the Gold Coast (but smaller). It’s a tourist mecca that most visitors to Nepal visit. We thought we’d come here so the kids could see elephants but we’ve ben surprised at what a cool little place it is and how much fun we’ve had here. We’ve indulged in all the toursit experiences icluding an elephant safaris, jeep safari, and elephant washing (them washing us not the other way round as we’d imagined!). We’ve seen rhinos, monkeys, deer, eagles and crocodiles. We’ve patted baby elephants, baby goats (always) and baby babies. We’ve had thrills and spills involving elepphants rather than roller coasters or jetboats but with that same buzz.

Next stop: Pokhara for a spot of trekking in the Himalaya.

Kia ora Nico,
It's great to hear about your adventures in Nepal. We hope you are having a good time. How are you doing? We are learning about the solar system and we have learned that there are 9 planets and we've started to make them out of paper machie. We hope you bring some photos back to share with us.

Hi, Your adventures sound so rewarding. We will have to have a big catch up when we get home. Taking TILLY TO cARLS TODAY. Stef maybe staying here when he moves out of his flat. Willow is going to also stay here with Charlotte from next door will check up on her. Shaun is going to change trades in Air Force. Will go into security and is having some of that experience now. His big 21st on 12 May. Like you we have had to find a new tenant for our house. Fortunatly there is a shortage of rental homes at the moment so we have had some good choices. Have s solo Mum and 8yr old. Also had to reroof the house so the rental has kept me busy for a couple of weeks and my garden tidy up has not been done. Catch up with you when we get back. love Mum

Great to hear your stories - keep posting - you guys are so amazing - loved hearing of Nico's eating and the kids in the preschool and the baby goats - take lots of photos - want a slide night on your return - will read your postings to my kids tomorrow - Lewis slowly coming around to dahl - the eating of which by both kids is our criteria before taking the kids to India. Cold here now - wind up - blowing leaves everywhere - had the fire on - hope your temps cool down on your trek. Alastair is off on his adventure to Bolivia. Lotsa love Helen, Ruby and Lewis
